Eric Preston Jr. enters his season season as a gradate assistant for the Boll Weevil Football team. 

Preston is Fall 2024 graduate of the University of West Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a minor in Coaching, graduating with honors. His career in collegiate athletics began as an equipment manager for the UWG football team during the 2022 season, where we achieved an 8-2 record in the competitive Gulf South Conference, including a victory over in-state rival Valdosta State to claim the coveted Peach Basket.

In 2023, he advanced into a student assistant role as the program transitioned to the NCAA Division I FCS level in the United Athletic Conference. Coach Preston worked closely with the defensive line and outside linebackers, contributing to several key team accomplishments—including the first FCS win, a 38-29 victory over Samford. That season, the defense recorded a standout performance, holding an opponent to just 15 rushing yards, under 200 passing yards, and securing an 88-12 win.

Before his time at West Georgia, he played as an offensive lineman at Reinhardt University during the Fall 2019 semester.

Originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, Coach Preston is a 2019 graduate of Houston County High School, where he also played football.
