Keith Scott was hired as UAM's defensive coordinator and community outreach coordinator in January of 2011.
His 2011 UAM Defense finished the season ranked first in the Great American Conference in tackles-for-loss with 96, ranking them 10th in all of Division II. The Boll Weevils were also ranked top in the GAC in interceptions with 17, putting them 29th in the NCAA. They were second in the conference in turnovers gained (26), third in 3rd Down Efficiency and third in total defense. Three Weevil defenders were named to the All-GAC team, Abraham Felton, Eric Crocker, and Calvin Ursin.
He served on the same staff as Hud Jackson during the 2010 season at the University of Central Arkansas. He was the team's assistant defensive backs coach. The 2010 Bears finished ranked first in the Southland Conference in passing defense, first in caused turnovers (30), and second in interceptions (17).
Prior to his one-year stint at UCA, the 29-year-old was an assistant coach at Mississippi Valley State from 2007-09, and was promoted to defensive coordinator for the 2009 season. The 2009 Delta Devils finished ranked second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in sacks (30), third in pass defense, and allowed just 12 passing touchdowns on the season. Jared Green and Rory Malone both earned all SWAC honors.
Scott entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant, coaching the defensive ends at Prairie View A&M from 2005-06. During his stint at Prairie View the team posted the best turnaround in Division I-AA history.
The Pine Bluff native graduated from hometown UAPB with a bachelor’s degree in parks and community recreation in 2005. He earned a master’s degree in education administration in 2006 from Prairie View A&M.
