Walker Ashburn is in his third season as Defensive Coordinator for UAM and will be working with the defensive line.
In 2018, Ashburn helped coach Second-Team All-Conference player Hakim Gray, and prior to UAM, Ashburn guided All-American and Reese's Senior Bowl selections, Tanzel Smart, along with Ade Aruna, a sixth-round draft pick with the Minnesota Vikings.
Before his stint in Monticello, Ashburn came from Tulane University where he was an assistant for four years working with the defensive line and outside linebackers. He has also worked as a member of the New Orleans Saints staff in 2014-15, and before joining the Saints, he was a strength and conditioning intern at Nebraska, his Alma Mater, in 2013-14.
Ashburn was a football student-athlete at Nebraska from 2010-13 and played on a Cornhuskers team that combined for a 38-16 record and made four bowl appearances. He was also a two-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete.
Walker resides in Monticello with his wife Brianna and their son Dane Michael.
