MONTICELLO – True freshman Bailie Jedlicka used the second highest hitting percentage in school history on Saturday to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Jedlicka finished the match with 13 kills on 17 attempts with only two errors for a final .647 hitting percentage. The League City, Texas native also had a block solo and a block assist in the win.
Final game scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-13. The win improves UAM to 2-19 overall and gives the Cotton Blossoms their first win at home this season. The Lady Lions drop to 2-17.
After pulling out the first two sets with .042 and .118 hitting percentages, the Cotton Blossoms put all the pieces together in the third set with 16 points coming off kills and a .286 percentage.
The Blossoms finished the match with a .137 percentage after racking up 43 kills on 117 attempts with 27 errors. The Lady Lions struggled throughout the match and finished with 18 kills on 92 attempts with 20 errors for a final -.022 hitting percentage.
Senior Vikki Crisco aided the UAM offensive attack with 38 assists, while junior Christina Jacinto and senior Stephanie Hatten paced the defense with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Lady Lions were led by Jasmine Jacobs and Britta Wilmers, both totaling six kills.
The Cotton Blossoms conclude their current three-game home stand and re-enter their Gulf South Conference schedule on Tuesday, October 19 against Henderson State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
