TIGERS DOWN COTTON BLOSSOMS ON THE ROAD

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team suffered a three-set road sweep to Ouachita Baptist Thursday in Gulf South Conference action.

 

Final game scores were 26-28, 10-25 and 15-25. With the loss, UAM drops to 2-21 overall and 0-8 in the GSC, while the Tigers improve to 13-8 and 2-7.

 

The Tigers hit above .200 in each set, with their best performance coming with a mark of .346 in the second set. The Tigers only had nine of their 25 points off kills due to UAM’s nine errors on 32 attempts with only seven kills for a -.062 mark in the frame.

 

UAM’s best set came with a .169 percentage in the first frame with 20 kills on 59 attempts with 10 errors.

 

Individually, true freshman Bailie Jedlicka tied for the match-high with nine kills on 19 attempts with only two errors for a team-high .368 percentage. Senior Monica Perkins-Miller added eight kills in the loss.

 

Senior Stephanie Hatten reached the 20-point mark in digs for the eighth time this season with a final total of 23. Junior Christina Jacinto added 14 digs.

 

The Tigers were led by Kaitlyn Mitcham and Libby Merritt with nine kills each.

 

The Cotton Blossoms head back to Monticello for a two-game non-conference home stand, starting Saturday, October 23 against Jackson State. First serve is set for 2 p.m. inside Steelman Fieldhouse.
