BLOSSOMS START 0-2 AT MIDDLE OF EVERYWHERE CLASSIC

ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the opening day of the Missouri S&T Middle of Everywhere Classic with 3-0 losses to the University of Mary and Rockhurst.
 
In the loss to Mary, final game scores were 13-25, 18-25 and 23-25. As a team, UAM had 33 kills on 105 attempts with 22 errors for a final .105 hitting percentage. Mary hit .266 after racking up 35 kills on 94 attempts with only 10 errors.
 
Individually for UAM, freshman Mollie Cagle led all players with 13 kills on 22 attempts with only two errors. The Arlington, Texas native added two blocks to her totals. Senior Stephanie Hatten led all players in the match with 22 digs.
 
Mary was led by Julie Paradine and Lauren Wells with seven kills each.
 
In the loss to Rockhurst, final game scores were 22-25, 23-25 and 15-25. As a team, UAM had 35 kills on 125 attempts with 28 errors for a final .056 hitting percentage. Rockhurst had 31 kills on 99 attempt with 17 errors for a .141 hitting percentage.
 
Cagle continued her impressive day by totaling a match-high 12 kills on 22 swings with only two errors. She also had four blocks in the loss. Freshman Bailie Jedlicka racked up a match-high five blocks. Hatten and junior Christina Jacinto led the Blossoms back-row defense with 15 and 10 digs, respectively. Hatten’s 15 digs was a match-high.
 
UAM concludes play in the classic on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match against Augustana and a 3 p.m. match against Chadron State. Event information, including live statistics can be found HERE .
