BLOSSOMS CONTINUE SLUMP WITH TWO MORE LOSSES

ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team concluded play in the Missouri S&T Middle of Everywhere Classic on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Augustana and a 3-1 loss to Chadron State.
 
The two losses continues UAM’s season-opening winless streak. UAM will host its home opener this Wednesday night against Lyon College with an overall record of 0-8. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Steelman Fieldhouse.
 
In the 3-0 loss to Augustana, final game scores were 20-25, 22-25 and 16-25. As a team, UAM had 30 kills on 98 attempts with 17 errors for a final .133 hitting percentage.
 
Individually, senior Monica Perkins-Miller and freshman Mollie Cagle tied for the team lead with eight kills each. Both had solid percentages with Cagle only committing two errors for a team-high .353 percentage. Perkins-Miller had three errors for a final .217 percentage.
 
Defensively, senior Stephanie Hatten led the way from the back row with 12 digs. On the front row, freshman Bailie Jedlicka led the team with five total blocks.
 
Augustana (4-4) was led by Lindsey Peterson’s match-high 14 kills.
 
In the loss to Chadron State, final game scores were 25-18, 19-25, 20-25 and 19-25. As a team, UAM had 37 kills on 142 attempts with 25 errors for a final .085 hitting percentage.
 
Individually, Cagle led the team again, this time with 10 kills on 27 attempts with only three errors for a .259 percentage. Jedlicka followed closely with nine kills.
 
Defensively, Hatten tallied 22 digs, while Jedlicka again led the team at the front row with four total blocks.
 
Chadron State (1-7) was led by Mollie Jones’ match-high 16 kills. Lauren Yoder added 10 kills. Defensively, Kristina Harter and Jones each reached the 20-dig mark with 25 and 21, respectively.
