JAMES RESIGNS AS HEAD BASEBALL COACH, TAKES JOB AT UAPB

MONTICELLO – University of Arkansas at Monticello Athletics Director Chris Ratcliff has accepted the resignation of head baseball coach Carlos James, who was hired for the same role at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on Monday.

James, a Pine Bluff native, recently completed his second full season at the helm of the UAM baseball program after leading the Boll Weevils to a 20-26 overall record, the first 20-win season for the team since the 2006 season. Also during 2010, James led UAM to its first series win since 2006 and its first conference series sweep since 2005. The Boll Weevils also had an eight-game win streak in 2010 and more than doubled their win total from the 2009 season.

“I certainly understand Carlos’ decision to make this move,” said Ratcliff. “We appreciate the hard work and dedication he gave during his time at UAM, and we wish him the best of luck in his new role… He came into a difficult situation here, and did all he could to turn the program around and point it in the right direction. Whoever we hire to replace him will have a solid foundation to build upon.”

The search for a replacement is already in progress and will continue until the position is filled.
