MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was swept by Southern Arkansas at home Thursday night by final game scores of 25-23, 33-31 and 25-16.
The Cotton Blossoms drop to 0-13 overall and 0-3 in the Gulf South Conference, while the Lady Muleriders improve to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in the GSC.
As a team, UAM hit .142 with 37 kills and 21 errors on 113 attacks. Individually, senior Monica Perkins-Miller led UAM with 14 kills on 29 attempts with three errors for a final .379 hitting percentage. Junior Christina Jacinto trailed closely with nine kills.
Senior Vikki Crisco aided the UAM offensive attack with 31 assists, while senior Stephanie Hatten paced the defense with 11 digs.
The Lady Muleriders finished the match with a .252 hitting percentage after racking up 45 kills and 16 errors on 115 attempts. Jordan White led the SAU offense with 11 kills.
UAM steps out of conference play for the weekend with a trip to Russellville, Ark. to participate in Arkansas Tech’s Hampton Inn Classic. The Cotton Blossoms’ first match in the classic is set for Friday, October 1 against Alabama-Huntsville. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum.
