ADA, Okla. – East Central defeated the UAM volleyball team 3-0 tonight in GAC action.
East Central (9-14, 5-6 GAC) took set one 25-17, set two 25-15, and the final set 25-21. The Blossoms (4-21, 2-11 GAC) tried to come back in the final set, down 24-19, but a last-minute timeout by the Tigers allowed them to regroup and close out the match.
Amy Kleypas led the Blossoms in kills with 11. Amy Bazemore posted 26 assists while Allison Beardsley had 12 defensive digs. The team notched a .055 hitting percentage compared to .229 for ECU. UAM’s percentage improved markedly in the third set, rising to .128 from a -.088 in the second.
UAM will return for the first of a three final home matches on Tuesday night as they host the Henderson State Lady Reddies. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Steelman Field House.
