BLOSSOMS DROP MATCH IN FIFTH SET TO OBU

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The UAM volleyball team dropped a squeaker tonight in the fifth set to the OBU Tigers, 3-2.

The two teams played neck-and-neck all night, until the final set no single set had been decided by more than four points.
The Tigers (11-11, 3-5 GAC) took set one 27-25 after two errors broke the 25-all tie.

UAM (3-16, 1-7 GAC) stormed back to take set two 25-23 to even the match at one.  The Blossoms led 24-21 and held off a late surge by the Tigers to hold on for the set win. They built their momentum into the third set, taking a 2-1 lead in the match off the 25-21 third. The Blossoms led from the first point through to the end, always keeping the Tigers a few points behind.

The Tigers tied the game in the fourth set with a solid 25-15 win and pushed their advantage into the tie-breaker, winning the match 15-9 to take the match.

Bailie Jedlicka and Amanda Dills led the Blossoms’ attack with 19 kills apiece on the night. Amy Kleypas came in right behind them at 18. Amy Bazemore posted a season-best 54 assists on the night and added three service aces. Allison Beardsley had the team high digs with 30.

The Blossoms return to the road next Tuesday as they travel to Jackson to take on the Jackson State Tigers in non-conference play. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
