BLOSSOMS SHUTOUT IN FINAL CROSSOVER GAME

DECATUR, Ala. – The 20th-ranked University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team was held to only two hits in a 4-0 loss to North Alabama in the team’s final game of the Gulf South Conference Crossover.

With the loss, UAM finishes 3-4 in the event to drop the team’s overall record to 29-10 and 9-9 in the GSC. North Alabama improves to 12-21 and 7-10.

Senior Sarah Hayslip and sophomore Jessica Dickey were responsible for UAM’s offense. Dickey had UAM’s first hit, a single in the third, while Hayslip collected a single in the fourth.

UNA scored one run in each of the second and third innings, and scored a pair of unearned runs in the fourth on a two-run single from Natalie Harrison.

Junior Randa Perry (5-1) took the loss for UAM after allowing all four runs (two earned) off six hits with four strikeouts and one walk in the first 3.2 innings. Evalena Behr (4-6) earned a complete-game victory for UNA after allowing two hits while striking out seven and giving up three walks.

The Cotton Blossoms are back in action next weekend at home in a four-game GSC series against Henderson State, starting with a double-header on Saturday (4/16) at 1 p.m.
