JACKSON, Miss. – The Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms lost in three straight tonight at Belhaven.
Amy Kleypas led the Blossoms (0-1) with ten kills on the night. Ballie Jedlicka posted the best hitting-percentage with .625, garnering six kills with only one hitting error.
UAM came within two points of the win in game one, falling 23-25 to the home-standing Blazers (2-0). The second match was not close, 15-25, but the Blossoms battled again in the third game, finishing 22-25.
Belhaven was led by Samantha O’Malley with 11 kills. The Blazers outperformed UAM at the net, recording 11 blocks to the Blossoms’ three.
Coach Shingler and his team will not have to wait long to put this match behind them. They will travel up to Memphis tonight in preparation for tomorrow’s CBU Invitational. The Blossoms will take on the West Georgia Wolves at 11:00 A.M. in game one before meeting the hosting Lady Bucs at 1:00 P.M.
