MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The UAM Volleyball team lost in three close sets to the SAU Muleriders.
SAU (8-6, 3-3 GAC) took set one 25-20, set two 25-21, and set three 25-22 to sweep the Cotton Blossoms in GAC action.
The Blossoms (2-11, 0-6 GAC) continued to struggle with their hitting percentage, finishing the night with a .151 percentage compared to .260 for the Lady Riders. UAM finished with nine fewer kills in the game and two more errors, though every set was closely contested.
Amy Kleypas led the Blossoms with seven kills out of 25 attacks. The best percentage on the team came from Melissa Reed. The Senior out of Pomona, Kansas posted four kills in seven attempts. Amy Bazemore led the team in assists with 21 and added one service ace. Christina Jacinto paced UAM with 12 digs for the defense.
UAM will put their GAC schedule on hold for the remainder of the week as they travel to Denton, Texas to take part in the Texas Woman’s University Tournament. They will take on the hosts on Friday at 1:00 p.m. before meeting Texas A&M-Commerce at 4:00 p.m. Saturday’s games are with Texas A&M-International at 9:30 a.m. and Missouri Western State at 3:30 p.m.
