RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech hit .341 as a team to record a 3-0 victory over the University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team on Tuesday inside Tucker Coliseum.
Final game scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-14. With the loss, UAM falls to 10-19 overall this season and 4-6 in Great American Conference matches, while the Golden Suns remain a game out of the conference lead with an overall record of 21-7 and a GAC mark of 9-1.
As a team, UAM hit .063 with 22 kills on 95 attempts with 16 errors. ATU had 41 kills on 88 swings with 11 errors.
Senior Amy Kleypas led UAM with 11 kills on 38 attempts with just two errors for a .237 percentage. Junior Tusalava Kuaea added four kills on 16 swings with just one error. Senior Allison Beardsley paced the UAM defense with seven digs, while junior Amy Bazemore contributed to the UAM offensive attack with 12 assists.
ATU was led by Sara Motsinger and Carly Florian with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
The Cotton Blossoms return to action this Saturday, October 27 on the road against GAC provisional member Southern Nazarene. It will be UAM’s first ever match against SNU. First serve is set for noon in Bethany, Okla.
