CRIMSON STORM SWEEPS UAM IN FIRST-EVER MEETING

The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was swept 3-0 by Great American Conference provisional member Southern Nazarene University on Saturday in the first ever meeting between the two squads.

Final game scores were 25-16, 25-17 and 25-21. With the loss, UAM drops to 10-20 overall and 4-7 in the GAC, while the Crimson Strorm improves to 10-18 overall and 6-5 in the league.

As a team, UAM totaled 28 kills on 118 swings with 17 errors for a .093 hitting percentage. SNU made 51 kills on 116 attempts with 15 errors for a .310 percentage.

Individually, senior Amy Kleypas led the Cotton Blossoms with 11 kills on 35 attempts with five errors for a .171 percentage. The Crawford, Texas native also tied for the team lead in digs with eight along with junior Amy Bazemore and senior Allison Beardsley.

SNU had three players reach double-digits offensively, led by Kira Roberts with 14 kills on 37 attempts with four errors for a .270 percentage.

The Cotton Blossoms are back at home on Tuesday, October 30 against Ouachita Baptist. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Steelman Fieldhouse.
