BEARCATS DEFEAT BLOSSOMS IN REGIONAL CROSSOVER

BOLIVAR, Mo. –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team fell to Southwest Baptist University 3-1 on Friday to conclude the first day of SBU’s regional crossover tournament.

Final game scores were 18-25, 25-23, 23-25 and 20-25. With the loss, UAM falls to 6-13 this season, while SBU improves to 7-12.

As a team, UAM hit .154 after collecting 45 kills on 162 attempts with 20 errors, while the Bearcats hit .193 with 57 kills on 166 attempts with 25 errors.

UAM took advantage of SBU’s worst offensive output of the match with the 25-23 win in the second set. The Bearcats hit .093 in the second set, while UAM posted a .111 percentage with 11 kills on 45 attempts.

Individually, senior Amy Kleypas led the way with a match-high 17 kills on 53 attempts with just six errors for a .208 percentage. Kleypas was also among five UAM players to reach double-digits defensively with a team-best 17 digs. It was her ninth double-double of the season and fifth consecutive match with at least 10 kills.

Senior Allison Beardsley followed Kleypas with 15 digs. Junior Amy Bazemore, junior Meagan Peters and junior Jaclyn Trinque also reached double-digits in the digs category with 13, 13 and 10, respectively.

SBU was led by Jenna Isaacs with 13 kills on 40 attempts with just four errors for a .225 percentage.

The Cotton Blossoms continue play in the SBU Regional Crossover with a 9 a.m. matchup with nationally top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, followed later in the day with a 3:30 p.m. contest against Lindenwood.
