SEARCY, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team concluded the 2012 regular season with a 3-0 loss to Great American Conference regular season champion Harding University on Thursday inside Rhodes Fieldhouse.
Final game scores were 25-14, 25-13 and 25-17. With the loss, UAM finishes the regular season with an overall record of 11-23 and a 4-10 mark in Great American Conference matches, while Harding improves to 25-6 overall and a perfect 14-0 in league contests.
As a team, UAM totaled 29 kills on 100 attempts with 17 errors for a .120 hitting percentage. The Lady Bisons had 43 kills on 92 attempts with just five errors for a .413 percentage.
Sophomore Christina Rini led the Cotton Blossoms with eight kills on 18 attempts with just two errors for a .333 percentage. Junior Holly Schweigert followed closely with seven kills on 12 attempts with just three errors, also for a .333 percentage.
Seniors Amy Kleypas and Allison Beardsley paced the UAM defensive with 14 and 13 digs, respectively. Juniors Amy Bazemore and Haley Goldwater contributed to the UAM offensive attack with 15 and 13 assists, respectively.
Harding was led by Mollie Arnold and Bailie Graham with 11 kills each.
The Cotton Blossoms return to Searcy, Ark. next Thursday, November 15 for the 2012 Great American Conference Championship Tournament. UAM will enter the single-elimination event as the league’s No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 seed Arkansas Tech on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The tournament bracket has not been finalized.
