Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The UAM Boll Weevils defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State tonight in Weatherford, 65-54 in GAC action.

The Weevils (16-8, 6-6 GAC) used consistent shooting and solid defense to stay one step ahead of the hosting Bulldogs on the game.  Southwestern (13-10, 4-9 GAC) was able to level-peg with UAM in the first half, as both teams went back-and-forth early on. In fact, neither team’s lead grew larger than three in the entire period.

It was not until the second half that the Weevils were able to get some separation. Sergio Crowe sparked a 14-2 run five minutes into the second that gave UAM their first real advantage of the night. By the time A.J. Calhoun hit the and-one off a fouled layup four minutes later, the Weevils had a 13 point lead and would not trail again.

UAM had four Weevils in double figures for the game, led by Sergio Crowe’s 21 points in 33 minutes. L.A. Farmer had 14 while Ricardo Hall and Kori Forge each added 10 points of their own. The Weevils shot 52-percent each half going 21-of-40 for the night, including 5-of-11 from three (45-percent).

SWOSU was held to just 25-percent shooting in the second half to finish 18-of-58 for the game (31-percent). They went 8-of-32 from three for 25-percent. The Weevils hit 18-of-30 free throw attempts for 60-percent while Southwestern hit 10-of-12 for 83-percent.

UAM will remain in Oklahoma this weekend as they face East Central on Saturday at 4 p.m.
