Box Score ADA, Okla. – The UAM men’s basketball team completed their Oklahoma road trip with an 86-72 win over East Central University.
The Weevils (17-8, 7-6 GAC) took the lead from the tipoff and never looked back. Back-to-back jumpers from L.A. Farmer and Sergio Crowe put UAM up 4-0 before East Central (5-19, 2-12 GAC) got on the board with a pair of free throws.
UAM steadily built up the lead throughout the half. Kori Forge hit a three pointer with 11:41 remaining to put the Weevils up 20-8 and they did not trail by more than seven points for the rest of the night and that at the half, 39-32.
The second half lead climbed as high as 18 after Forge hit another of his eight three pointers on the night with 7:25 remaining to play. The Tigers were able to cut the lead down to 11 with 1:29 remaining but got no closer before time expired.
Kori Forge posted a career-high 32 points for the Weevils. The Junior out of Atlanta went 8-of-10 from the floor, all eight from beyond the arc, a perfect 8-of-8 from three. L.A. Farmer had 23 points and Sergio Crowe added 17 to round out those in double figures. A.J. Calhoun pulled in 10 rebounds. Bobby McAdoo led the Tigers with 20 points.
UAM shot 47-percent on the night, going 26-of-55 from the floor, including 14-of-19 (73-percent) from three-point range. The Weevils hit 20-of-24 free throw attempts for 83-percent. The Tigers shot 45-percent from the floor (26-of-57), 36-percent from three (8-of-22), and 85-percent (12-of-14) from the free throw line.
The Weevils will return home Monday evening to host Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Steelman Field House.
