DENTON, Texas – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team suffered its second loss on the opening day of the 2012 season, this time a 3-0 decision on Friday to the host team of the Texas Woman’s University Holiday Inn Express Classic.

Final game scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-12. UAM falls to 0-2 on the season after losing earlier in the day on Friday to Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. Texas Woman’s improves to 2-0.

Senior Amy Kleypas led the Cotton Blossoms with nine kills on 23 attacks with only two errors for a .304 hitting percentage. She received help from junior Jasmine Garnett, who totaled five kills on 17 attempts with no errors for a .294 percentage.

As a team, UAM hit .077, while allowing TWU to hit .277 combined. TWU’s Marcela Alves and Viktoria Lablonska tied Kleypas for the match-high with nine kills each.
