MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team took the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders to five sets in a losing effort on Thursday at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
Final game scores were 18-25, 25-22, 26-24 27-25 and 11-15. With the loss, the Cotton Blossoms drop to 3-10 overall and 0-3 in GAC matches, while the Lady Riders improve to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the league.
As a team, UAM collected 52 kills on 195 attempts with 19 errors for a .169 hitting percentage. SAU totaled 74 kills on 223 attempts with 33 errors for a .184 percentage.
Individually, UAM placed three players in double-digits offensively. Senior Amy Kleypas collected 13 kills, followed by junior Tusalava Kuaea with 12 and junior Victoria Bozzo with 100. Senior Allison Beardsley and junior Meagan Peters paced the UAM defense with 26 and 22 digs, respectively.
SAU placed five players in double-digits, led by Denise DeVine’s match-high 17 kills. Courtney Gessing followed closely with 16.
UAM continues GAC play next Tuesday, September 25 at home against Henderson State. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
