PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Junior Victoria Bozzo tallied 17 kills and only committed two errors to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday.
Bozzo’s final hitting percentage for the match of .536 ranks third all-time in program history. She also added eight digs and two blocks to her final totals.
Final game scores were 25-20, 25-22, 24-26 and 25-17. With the win, UAM improves to 5-10 overall, while the Lady Lions drop to 3-8.
As a team, UAM combined to record 50 kills on 141 attempts with just 14 errors for a season-best .255 hitting percentage. The Lady Lions had 48 kills on 161 attempts with 31 errors for a .106 percentage.
Senior Amy Kleypas joined Bozzo with double-digits in the kill category with 11 on 39 swings and only three errors for a .205 percentage. Kleypas added 19 digs to give her six double-doubles this season.
Senior Allison Beardsley paced the UAM defense with 20 digs. Junior Jaclyn Trinque contributed to the UAM offensive attack with 13 assists.
UAM recorded 10 total blocks, led by sophomore Christina Rini’s match-high five total blocks.
The Cotton Blossoms jump back into the GAC portion of the 2012 schedule with a trip to Oklahoma to face Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday, September 28 at 7 p.m. and Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
