MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak and turned in a season-high in team hitting percentage in a three-set victory non-conference over Belhaven Thursday night at home. Final game scores were 25-9, 25-20 and 25-17.
As a team, UAM had 43 kills and 14 errors on 104 attempts for a .279 team hitting percentage, the highest percentage of the season by five percentagepoints. The Blossoms (12-13) had zero hitting errors in the first set, six in the second set and eight in the third set. UAM hit .565 in the first set tocruise to the team's most lop-sided set victory of the year.
Junior Jessica Cuba led the Blossoms with her sixth double-digit kills performance of the season. Cuba had 12 kills and just one error on 30 attempts for a .367 individual percentage.
Senior Tori Bozzo turned in her second straight double-double and seventh of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.Juniors Gabriella Jandotti and Tasha Evans each added seven kills in the victory.
Senior Tusalava Kuaea paced the UAM back row with 16 digs, marking her 15thmatch of the season with at least 10 digs. Senior Amy Bazemore reached the 30-assist mark for the sixth time this season with a match-high 32 assists in the victory.
UAM is back to Great American Conference matches for the next three contests, starting this Saturday, October 26 at home against Southern Nazarene. Firstserve is set for 11 a.m. inside Steelman Field House.
