BLOSSOMS FALL TO SAU IN FINAL ROAD TILT

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Great American Conference rival Southern Arkansas on Tuesday night in the final road match of the regular season. Final game scores were 25-20, 25-13 and 25-19.

Despite the loss, the Blossoms (12-18, 2-11 GAC) posted its eighth match of the season with a team hitting percentage. UAM finished the match hitting .218 with 29 kills and 10 errors on 87 attempts. The Lady Muleriders (16-14, 6-7 GAC) countered at .324 with 50 kills and 16 errors on 105 attempts.

UAM started the match with 13 kills and only one error in the first set, but SAU closed out the set with a 5-1 scoring run to take a 1-0 match lead. The Lady Muleriders posted a .469 hitting percentage in the second set, while UAM fell to .125 leading to SAU's lopsided win.

The Blossoms led midway through the final set, but finished the frame with 10 fewer kills than SAU.

Senior Tori Bozzo led the Blossoms with seven kills and only one error on 22 attempts for a .273 individual percentage. Senior Holly Schweigert followed with seven kills. Junior Kayla Macadlo paced the UAM defense with eight digs.

Courtney Geesing led SAU with 13 kills. Hailey McNee added 10.

The Blossoms conclude the regular season this Thursday, November 14 at home against Harding for Senior Day. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside Steelman Field House. The Senior Day ceremony will take place immediately following the conclusion of the match.
