BETHANY, Okla. – Southern Nazarene outscored the University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team 19-4 in the final eight minutes of the second half to snap the Boll Weevils' eight-game winning streak by a final score of 71-66 on Thursday night at the Sawyer Center.

After trailing by two at halftime, the Weevils (10-3, 4-2 Great American Conference) built a 10-point lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the second half before the Crimson Storm (6-6, 4-2 GAC) used its 19-4 run to regain the lead for the final time. Prior to SNU's run, the Weevils had outscored the Storm 21-9 in the first 12 minutes of the second half.

The Weevils were forced to burn two timeouts in the first three minutes of the first half after Southern Nazarene built an 11-2 lead at the 16:59 minute mark on a three-pointer by Quan Conner, less than a minute after teammate Dartanyon Meggs nailed a trey at the 17:33 mark.

UAM started chipping away at the early deficit, and at the 12:26 mark, forced a 13-all tie on a layup from senior Brandon Wilson. That capped an 11-2 run for the Weevils over the previous four minutes.

UAM took its first lead of the game at the 6:20 mark of the opening period on a pair of free throws from Wilson to give his team a 26-24 edge. That lead was stretched to four points on a layup by junior Kenric McCants on the next possession for UAM's largest lead of the half.

UAM was forced to take its third timeout of the first half with under four minutes remaining after the Storm used a 13-0 run to take a 41-31 lead at the 3:27 mark. UAM closed the first half on a 9-2 run to trim SNU's lead to just two points (43-41) at the half time break.

The Weevils finished the game shooting 37 percent from the field (16-for-33), 24 percent on three-pointers (4-for-17) and 67 percent on foul shots (16-for-24). SNU finished at 51 percent from the field (21-for-41), 47 percent on three-pointers (7-for-15) and 71 percent on foul shots (22-for-31).

Wilson and McCants led UAM in scoring with 14 points each. Senior Jared Harrison and junior D'Audrio Patton also reached double-digits with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

SNU's Meggs led all scorers with 17 points. Garrett Butler added 14 points.

The Weevils are back in action this Saturday, January 11 at home against Ecclesia College for the final non-conference game of the season. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
