PETERSON SCORES 27 IN EXHIBITION LOSS TO UALR

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team wrapped up a stretch of three games in three days with a 77-64 exhibition loss to UALR on Sunday inside the Jack Stephens Center.

Junior Jamal Peterson accounted for nearly half of UAM's scoring with 27 points, highlighted by an 8-for-11 three-point shooting performance. Senior Sharif Hudson was the only other Weevil to have double-digits in the points category with 17 following a 7-for-12 outing from the field. Hudson also added a team-high seven rebounds and four assists to his final totals.

Both teams relied heavily on the three-pointer in Sunday's contest. UALR finished with 11 treys on 24 attempts. UAM finished 8-for-12 from beyond the arc.

Overall, UAM shot 40 percent from the field (23-for-57). UALR finished at 45 percent (29-for-65).

After trailing 38-29 at halftime, the Weevils went nearly three minutes in the second half without scoring, which eventually allowed UALR to get in top by as much as 19 points with just under 15 minutes remaining in the game.

The Weevils got back to within single digits in the final five minutes of the game, including only being down by seven points with 3:12 remaining.

James Reid paced the Trojans with 12 points. James White had 11.

The Weevils are back in action on Thursday, November 20 at home against East Central in the first Great American Conference game of the season. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
