Box Score (HTML)

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball rallied from down 12 points to take a one-point lead with 3:29 remaining in regulation, but Ouachita Baptist responded with a 6-0 run and eventually held off the Weevils with a final score of 74-71 on Saturday inside the Bill Vining Arena.

The Tigers led by 12 points at the 9:40 mark when UAM posted a 20-7 run over the next five minutes to take its one-point lead with three and a half minutes left on the clock. During that run, the Weevils benefited from four three-pointers – two from junior Jamal Peterson, one from senior Sharif Hudson and one from junior Richard Benedyth. It was Peterson's second trey during that stretch that gave UAM the lead.

Ouachita (6-2, 2-1 GAC) went to the free throw line for its next four points and added a layup from Jordan Corbitt at the 2:14 mark to cap its 6-0 run to get back on top by five.

UAM (3-4, 1-4 GAC) trimmed the lead to one point with 13 seconds remaining on a dunk by Benedyth. After UAM was forced to foul, OBU's Michael Delph sank a pair of foul shots to put the Tigers up by three with 11 seconds on the clock. A contested three-point attempt by Benedyth with four seconds remaining missed the target to seal the win for OBU.

UAM finished the game shooting 46 percent from the field (27-for-59), 47 percent on three-pointers (8-for-17) and 69 percent on foul shots (9-for-13). Hudson and Peterson led the Weevils with 18 points each. Benedyth added 15 points and a team-high six rebounds.

The Tigers finished at 44 percent from the field (24-for-54), 31 percent on three-pointers (5-for-16) and 75 percent on foul shots (21-for-28). Colt Fason led the Tigers with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jerron Smith also had 16 points for OBU.

The Weevils are back in action on Tuesday with a trip to Thibodaux, Louisiana to face off against Nicholls State in an exhibition game. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
