BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team suffered its first loss of the 8-State Classic, falling to Fort Hays State 5-3 in the first game of the day before responding with a 6-2 win over Southwest Baptist in the afternoon game.

With the split, UAM's record moves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the weekend event. With 27 teams returning home from the 8-State Classic, UAM and Minnesota-Duluth will stay the night and close out the event on Monday with a double header starting at noon.
