WEEVILS SWEPT UP BY STORM, 74-62

DURANT, Okla. –
Southeastern Oklahoma State took advantage of its home court by shooting nearly 60 percent from the field in defeating the University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team 74-62 Thursday night inside Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Southeastern (6-12, 4-9 Great American Conference) led by as many as 12 points in the first half at the 12:44 mark before UAM used an 8-0 run to climb back to within four points with just over 10 minutes remaining in the opening half. Southeastern jumped back on top by double-digits with a pair of three pointers from Taylor Smaller in the Savage Storm's next two possessions.

UAM (15-7, 8-6 GAC) closed out the final 4:23 of the first half outscoring Southeastern 9-1 to regain the lead at the break with a made jumper off the backboard by junior Sharif Hudson as time expired. UAM led by just one point (30-29) at halftime due in part to only making 5-of-13 foul shots in the first 20 minutes.

Southeastern regained the lead in its first possession of the second half and maintained that lead throughout the remainder of the contest. The Storm reached a seven-point lead at the 12:45 mark, a 10-point lead at the 7:15 mark and its largest lead of 13 points with 3:52 remaining.

The Weevils were outscored 45-32 in the second half. UAM's free throw woes carried over into the final 20 minutes, ending the game shooting just 43 percent at the line (9-for-21).

Overall, UAM shot 41 percent from the field (23-for-56) and 27 percent on three pointers (7-for-26). Southeastern shot 57 percent from the field (26-for-46), 43 percent on three pointers (6-for-14) and 70 percent on foul shots (16-for-23).

Senior Brandon Wilson led UAM with 16 points and six rebounds. Senior Jared Harrison added 12 points, senior Dayton Mickens had 11 and Hudson finished with 10 points.

Southeastern's Taylor Smaller made six three-pointers in the game and led all scorers with 20 points.

The Weevils conclude its four-game road swing on Saturday against East Central. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. in Ada, Okla.
