@UAMVOLLEYBALL DOWNS UAPB IN FOUR SETS

MONTICELLO –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team stepped out of Great American Conference play to record a four-set victory over Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday night at home.

Final game scores were 25-15, 19-25, 25-15 and 25-18. The Blossoms improve to 6-6 overall, while UAPB falls to 3-13.

Sophomore Kedra Johnson led the Blossoms with her third consecutive 12-kill performance. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native committed only three errors on 29 swings for a match-high .310 hitting percentage.

Senior Tasha Evans followed with 11 kills and matched her season-high with seven total blocks in the win. She was responsible for a match-high 15.5 points. Junior Sydni Schulz added eight kills and 10 digs in the win.

Sophomore Brittney Beckham posted her fourth consecutive double-digit performance in assists and tied a career-high with 28 in Tuesday's win. Senior Jessica Cuba led the Blossoms' back row with 16 digs, while also adding five kills. Juniors Kaila Kikugawa and Lani Kaiwi each posted 13 digs in the victory.

For the match, UAM outhit UAPB .160 to .047. The Blossoms posted 47 kills and 21 errors on 162 swings, while UAPB had 40 kills and 33 errors on 149 swings.

Ashlie Jones led the Lady Lions with 13 kills.

The Blossoms hit the road this weekend to Oklahoma for a four-match trip, starting Thursday at Oklahoma Panhandle State for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest. UAM is back to GAC action on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Northwestern Oklahoma State and travels south on Saturday to face Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at 10 a.m. Later on Saturday, the Blossoms are set to face Cameron in Lawton, Oklahoma in non-conference action at 6 p.m.
