RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was held scoreless in the final three minutes of a 70-61 loss to No. 24 Arkansas Tech on Saturday inside Tucker Coliseum.

After 11 lead changes in the first half, the Blossoms (5-6, 3-3 Great American Conference) led for the majority of the first 10 minutes of the second half, but never led by more than two points during that span.

Up 46-45 on a three-pointer from junior Nikki Mullen, the Blossoms then witnessed the Golden Suns (10-1, 5-0 GAC) make seven of their next eight shots to get up by five points at 56-51 with 7:10 remaining in regulation. UAM cut the deficit back to one-point just over two minutes later, but Tech outscored UAM 10-2 in the final four minutes to seal a victory in the back-and-forth contest.

Overall, there were 16 lead changes and 10 tie scores. The Blossoms led by as much four points on a three-pointer from Mullen with 5:18 remaining in the first half. Tech's final nine-point advantage was its largest lead of the game.

Junior Jordan Goforth led all scorers with 20 points, her seventh 20-point contest of the season. Mullen followed at 14, while junior Nelsha Peterson added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds.

As a team, the Blossoms finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field (20-for-45), 40 percent on three-pointers (6-for-15) and 88 percent on foul shots (15-for-17). Tech finished at 50 percent from the field (26-for-52), 31 percent on three-pointers (4-for-13) and 64 percent on foul shots (14-for-22).

Fatima Adams led the Suns with 16 points. Caroline Eubanks added 13 points off the bench.

The Blossoms are back in action on Thursday, January 8 on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
