MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team lost both of its matches in western Oklahoma this weekend with a three-set loss at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday and a three-set loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Final game scores in the loss to NWOSU were 25-19, 25-13 and 25-15. As a team, UAM hit .072 with 28 kills and 20 errors on 111 swings. The Rangers (5-11, 3-3 Great American Conference) countered with 41 kills and 14 errors on 107 swings for a .252 percentage.
Junior Carolina Gasparini led the Blossoms in Friday's match with seven kills and eight digs. Sophomore Aubrey Harrison and senior Sydni Schulz each had six kills. Senior Kaila Kikugawa led UAM defensively with 13 digs.
Final scores of the SWOSU match were 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20. UAM posted 33 kills and 15 errors on 116 swings for a .155 percentage, while SWOSU (10-7, 5-2 GAC) had 45 kills and 14 errors on 113 attempts for a .274 percentage.
Schulz paced the UAM offensive attack in that loss with 10 kills, her sixth match of the year with double-digit kills. Junior Kya Standford, Gasparini and Harrison followed with eight, seven and six kills, respectively. Kikugawa followed up with her sixth straight match reaching double-digits in the digs category with a match-high 17 against SWOSU.
The Blossoms return to Monticello for their next two matches, hosting Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist next Friday and Saturday at Steelman Field House.
