@UAMWBB PICKS UP GAC ROAD WIN OVER SNU

BETHANY, Oklahoma –
The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team picked up its third Great American Conference road victory and completed a season sweep over Southern Nazarene with a 66-54 win over the Crimson Storm on Thursday night.

The Blossoms (11-8, 9-5 GAC) fought back from down as much as 14 points early in the first half and trailed by three points at halftime before outscoring the Crimson Storm 35-20 in the final 20 minutes.

UAM trimmed that 14-point deficit just five minutes into the game down to just four points behind at the 6:44 mark of the opening half. SNU got back on top by double-digits just over a minute later, the Blossoms responded later with an 8-0 run to force a 31-all tie with 1:17 remaining before halftime. A three-pointer from SNU's Abby Boyd at the 1:04 mark finalized the first half scoring to put the Storm up by three at the break.

The Blossoms led for the majority of the second half, including its largest and final lead of 12 points on a pair of free throws made by junior Nelsha Peterson with six seconds remaining in the game.

Peterson led UAM with 20 points on a 7-for-15 shooting performance. Three other Blossoms turned in double-digit scoring performances, including sophomore Tori Nichols with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, junior Jordan Goforth with 13 points and junior Nikki Mullen with 12 points.

SNU's Abby Boyd led all scorers with 24 points.

The Blossoms are back in action on Saturday at East Central. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. in Ada, Oklahoma.
