ADA, Oklahoma – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday by defeating East Central on the road by a final score of 8-6.
The Weevils (13-16, 10-12 Great American Conference) took the first lead on a solo homerun by senior Bronson Gillam in the top of the second inning. In the third, UAM put three runs on the board, highlighted by a two-run double from redshirt freshman Brian Ray.
UAM went up 6-4 on a sacrifice fly from Ray in the top of the fifth inning.
The Weevils took advantage of an ECU fielding error and RBI singles from juniors Kevin Fitzpatrick and Travis Steinke in the top of the sixth inning.
Both teams were held scores in the final three innings.
Junior Gavin Johnston (2-3) earned the win. Senior Jeff Harvill earned the save, his fourth of the season.
UAM in back in action on Tuesday, April 14 at home against Harding. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Weevils Field.
