@WEEVILSBASEBALL WRAPS UP 2015 AT SAU

MAGNOLIA, Arkansas – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team concluded the 2015 season with a pair of Great American Conference road losses to Southern Arkansas on Sunday, falling in the first game 8-4 and 10-4 in the nightcap.

The Weevils (17-20, 12-16 GAC) opened the day's scoring on an RBI single from junior Nick Cerda in the top of the second inning, but were held scoreless until the ninth, while SAU (35-15, 20-10 GAC) scored three in the third, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to earn the win.

UAM scored its final three runs in the top of the ninth to cut the final deficit in half. Senior Bronson Gillam and Cerda each had RBI doubles before senior Austin Braddock capped the scoring with an RBI single.

After not having an at bat all season, Braddock stepped into the designated hitter role to go 6-for-11 over the weekend, including three hits in Sunday's first game and one in the finale. He went 2-for-4 in the series opener on Saturday.

In the second game, SAU scored its 10 runs off eight hits and four UAM errors for a total of four earned runs. The Muleriders plated four in the second, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.

The Weevils got on the board in the fourth after taking advantage of an SAU error, and added to that in the fifth with two runs on an RBI single from junior Corey Wood and a sacrifice fly out from junior Travis Steinke.

UAM finalized its scoring in the top of the sixth with a sacrifice fly from junior Kevin Fitzpatrick.

Junior Evan Comeau accounted for two of UAM's six hits in the finale. He went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, a walk and a hit by pitch.
