SEARCY, Arkansas – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team suffered an 11-0, seven-inning loss to Harding on Friday in the first game of a three-game Great American Conference series.

Weevils starter Zach McKnight kept the Bisons off balance throughout the first two innings, even striking out five straight hitters before Harding came through with four runs in the third to open the scoring.

Harding added one in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead before hanging another crooked number on the board with a six-run sixth inning, which was enough to invoke the NCAA 10-run rule after seven innings.

Bisons starter Andrew Fiddler (4-2) held UAM to five hits in his complete-game shutout victory. UAM junior Nick Cerda was the only Weevil with more than one hit in the loss in a 2-for-3 outing at the plate.

The Weevils and Bisons are back at it on Saturday with a double-header starting at noon.
