UAM Volleyball vs. East Central - Highlights
MONTICELLO - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team took down Great American Conference opponent East Central University Saturday afternoon in a three-set sweep victory over the Tigers at home.
Final game scores from the match were 25-17, 25-20, and 26-24.
The Blossoms (10-13, 6-5 GAC) controlled much of this match-up over East Central (7-18, 3-8 GAC) as the Tigers had no answer for UAM on either side of the ball. The opening set saw Arkansas-Monticello dictate the pace of the match, winning it 25-17 and closed the set out on a 6-2 run over ECU. UAM continued with its strong momentum in set two, as the Blossoms never trailed the visiting Tigers in the second set and claimed a 2-0 match lead with a 25-20 set win. East Central however led by as much as five points in the third set but multiple errors allowed Arkansas-Monticello to go on a 7-1 run to take a slim lead. Each team kept battling as the set ultimately finished with a 26-24 score in the Blossoms favor after securing three straight points for the match victory.
Senior Carolina Gasparini once again led UAM in the contest with a match-high 18 total kills and 11 digs. Gasparini posted a hitting percentage of .421 in the match on 38 total swings. Freshman Maggie Pyles posted a double-digit kill day with 10 overall also.
Senior Kya Standford once again led Arkansas-Monticello on the defensive front as she totaled one solo block and three block assists. Macy Mitchell aided the defensive as well with a match-high 15 digs.
Freshman setter Kendall Vondra finished the match with 39 total assists, four digs, one service ace and one kill as well.
UAM will return to action next on Thursday, October 27 as the Blossoms will host GAC rival Southern Arkansas University inside Steelman Field House with first serve set for 6 p.m.
