MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team continued its winning ways Saturday evening with a victory over Dallas Christian College, 97-23.
The Blossoms (2-0, 0-0 GAC) controlled the pace of this contest right from the beginning, going on a 12-2 run to begin play against the Crusaders. UAM continued to generate points throughout the opening half as Arkansas-Monticello held a lead of 26-4 after the first quarter. Arkansas-Monticello rode its momentum into the second half as the offensive continued to stay hot and the home squad went on to claim the victory at 97-23.
Final team statistics on the night for Arkansas-Monticello included shooting 52 percent from the field (38-for-73), 48 percent on three-pointers (11-for-23) and 71 percent on free throws (10-for-14). Dallas Christian finished the evening at 16 percent from the field (9-for-57), seven percent beyond the arc (1-for-15) and 40 percent on foul shots (4-for-10).
Junior Treasure Evans guided the UAM offensively in the match-up, totaling a game-high 14 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the field. Sophomores Lacy Alford and Braxton Chumley also recorded double figures in the game as Alford tallied 10 points and Chumley finished the game with 11.
Senior Nelsha Peterson and sophomore Regerina Baker each led Arkansas-Monticello on the glass as each totaled seven rebounds in the match-up.
The Blossoms will be back in action next, Thursday, November 17 as UAM will open up Great American Conference play against the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State inside Steelman Field House with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
