@UAMHOOPS DROPS FINAL EXHIBITION TO UMKC

KANSAS CITY, Missouri —
 The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team played its final of three exhibition games of the 2016-17 season on Friday night in a 97-82 loss to the University of Missouri-Kansas City inside Municipal Auditorium.

Arkansas-Monticello (3-0, 2-0 GAC) despite scoring first in this contest against the Kangaroos of UMKC (4-2, 0-0 WAC) played from behind nearly the entire opening half with Missouri-Kansas City holding a slim lead over the Weevils throughout the half. The Roos generated small runs over the course of the second half with UAM unable to recapture a lead, and UMKC sealed the victory in the end at 97-82.

Leading the Weevil offensive attack in the match-up was junior Derylton Hill who posted 23 total points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field. Hill went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line to contribute to his overall total, and racked up six rebounds also.

Juniors Cobe Goosby and Tyrin Jones finished in double figures as well with Goosby totaling 17 points and Jones adding 15 overall. Senior Vicktor Arnick found himself in double figures with 10 points on the night and also led UAM in rebounding with seven total boards. Jones added three steals to the Weevil defensive effort as well. 

The Weevils finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field (29-for-58), 20 percent on three-pointers (1-for-5) and 77 percent on foul shots (23-for-30). The Roos ended the night at 50 percent from the field (33-for-66), 48 percent from beyond the arc (12-for-25) and 62 percent from the charity stripe (19-for-27).

UAM will be back in action next on Sunday, November 27 as the Weevils will host Delta State in a non-conference match-up inside Steelman Field House with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
