LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team played its second of three exhibition games of the 2016-17 season on Tuesday night in an 81-53 loss to the the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.
The Weevils closed out the opening half of play against the Trojans only trailing by eight points with the score at 38-30. UALR however began to pull away from UAM midway through the second half as Arkansas-Little Rock created a 30-8 run which ultimately sealed the game in favor of the home team at 81-53.
Junior Cobe Goosby led the UAM offensive unit on the night with a game-high 17 points, and shot 6-for-12 from the field. Goosby also led the Weevils in rebounding as he was able to pull down five boards, and recorded three steals as well.
Junior Stephon Gordon and senior Vicktor Arnick both finished the evening in double digit scoring with 11 points each.
The Weevils finished the game shooting 38 percent from the field (18-for-48), 14 percent on three-pointers (2-for-14) and 60 percent on free throws (15-for-25). UALR ended the night at 54 percent from the field (29-for-54), 37 percent on threes (7-for-19) and 70 percent on foul shots (16-for-23).
UAM will be in action next on Saturday, November 12 as the Weevils officially kick-off regular season play in the 2016-17 season against the Crusaders of Dallas Christian College inside Steelman Field House with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
