MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team took down non-conference opponent Lane College Saturday afternoon by a final score of 82-49 inside Steelman Field House.
The Blossoms (4-4, 1-3 GAC) trailed the Dragons of Lane College (3-8, 2-1 SIAC) after the opening quarter 15-12, but dominated the following quarter by outscoring the visitors, 18-4 to reclaim the lead. UAM controlled much of the pace in the second half as well, with Arkansas-Monticello scoring 30 total points in the final quarter to secure the victory over Lane College at 82-49.
Final team statistics on the night for UAM included shooting 48 percent from the field (30-for-62), 40 percent on three-pointers (8-for-20) and 61 percent on free throws (14-for-23). The Dragons finished the game at 35 percent from the field (19-for-55), 19 percent beyond the arc (3-for-16) and 42 percent on foul shots (8-for-18).
Offensively the Blossoms were led by junior Treasure Evans who totaled a game-high 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field. Evans also led UAM in total rebounds in the match-up with seven as well and added two steals to her stat-line.
Junior Taylor Collins (12), senior Nelsha Peterson (11), and sophomore Mia Hayes (11) each posted double figures in points on the day, and Hayes led UAM in overall assists with eight total.
Arkansas-Monticello will return to action next on Saturday, December 31 as UAM will host Southwestern Assemblies of God University in an exhibition match-up with tip-off set for 4 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
