@WEEVILSBASEBALL BEATS SNU TWICE ON SATURDAY, WINS SERIES

BETHANY, Oklahoma – After losing the series opener on Friday, the University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team pounded out 27 combined runs and 25 combined hits to beat Southern Nazarene twice on Saturday by final scores of 19-10 and 8-2.

In Saturday's first game, six spots in the Weevil lineup had two hits and five had at least two runs batted in. Senior Nick Cerda provided the big blow for the Weevils (6-5, 2-1 GAC) with a grand slam homerun in the top of the third inning.

Senior Kevin Fitzpatrick and redshirt freshman Kaleb Reeves also homered in the win. Reeves' first career hit was a two-run homerun to left field in the top of the fifth inning. Fitzpatrick had a three-run blast to left center earlier in the six-run rally.

Fitzpatrick finished with five RBI in the victory after also having a two-run triple in the top of the eighth inning.

Senior Evan Comeau, junior Nick Piraino, senior Corey Wood, sophomore Brian Ray and senior Mitchell Dornblut all finished with two hits as well.

Senior Kregg Snook (2-0) earned the win after giving up one run off two hits in 1.2 innings of relief. Junior Kris Brown recorded a three-inning save for the Weevils, giving up only one run off five hits.

Anthony Wiggins and Mike Desciscilo led the Crimson Storm (1-11, 1-2 GAC) with three hits each.

In the finale, Cerda again led the Weevils in run production with a 2-for-4 performance and three RBI, including a two-run double as a part of a five-run fifth inning. Ray and Fitzpatrick also had two hits for UAM. Fitzpatrick collected his second homerun of the day with a solo shot to left center, also part of UAM's five-run fifth.

The other two runs in that inning came on a double down the left field line by Piraino.

The Weevils opened the scoring with three runs in the second, two of which coming on RBI singles from Cerda and Dornblut.

Junior Grant Black (1-1) earned a complete-game victory for UAM after giving up just two runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

UAM is back in action on Tuesday at home against Mississippi College. First pitch is 2 p.m. at Weevils Field.
