GOFORTH MOVES TO 5TH ALL-TIME, @UAMWBB FALLS TO NO. 14 TECH

MONTICELLO – Senior Jordan Goforth moved into fifth place all-time in scoring at the University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team lost to 14th-ranked Arkansas Tech by a final score of 106-67 on Saturday.

Goforth had 28 points in Saturday's loss to Tech, giving her 1,749 career points and surpassing Brenda Jones-Begnaud for fifth place on UAM's career scoring chart. Next on the list is Carol Harrington at No. 4 with 2,141 points from 1992-96.
 
Tech (21-3, 19-1 GAC) jumped out to a big lead early in Saturday's game after missing only three shots in the first period. The Golden Suns grabbed a double-digit lead midway through the period and maintained throughout the rest of the game.

UAM (11-13, 8-12 GAC) finished the game shooting 40 percent from the field (23-for-58), 47 percent on three-pointers (8-for-17) and 77 percent on foul shots (13-for-17).

In addition to Goforth's 28 game-high 28 points, freshman Mia Hayes and senior Nikki Mullen also reached double-digits with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Tech finished at 57 percent overall (40-for-68), 69 percent on three-pointers (15-for-22) and 100 percent at the foul line (11-for-11). The Golden Suns had six scorers in double-digits, led by Aujuana Dawkins and Kelsey McClure with 18 points each.

The Blossoms are back in action on Thursday, February 25 at home against Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at Steelman Field House.
