MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team wrapped up the 2015-16 season on Saturday with a 75-59 Senior Day win over Oklahoma Baptist.
The Bison (7-19, 3-19 GAC) jumped out to an early lead with a pair of three-pointers in the first two minutes. UAM (8-20, 6-16 GAC) rallied back to take a lead midway through the half, using six straight points from senior Andre Brown to put the Weevils up 15-13 at the 10:43 mark.
UAM put together a 9-3 run late in the half to get on top by as much as seven points, and ended up with a 35-31 lead at the break.
The Weevils dominated the second half, outscoring OBU 40-28. UAM's first double-digit lead came on a three-pointer by senior Richard Benedyth at the 11:26 mark. The Weevils led by as much as 16 points on a layup from junior Vicktor Arnick in the final 20 seconds.
UAM finished the game shooting 49 percent from the field (31-for-63), 32 percent on three-pointers (6-for-19) and 70 percent on foul shots (7-for-10). Senior Andre Brown saved his best performance for last with UAM career highs in points (23) and rebounds (17) in Saturday's win. Senior Jerron Washington added 12 points. UAM had five other scorers with at least five points.
As a team, UAM forced 23 OBU miscues, and capitalized off that with a 20-2 margin in points off turnovers.
The Bison finished at 41 percent overall (23-for-56), 29 percent on three-pointers (6-for-19) and 78 percent on foul shots (7-for-9). Steven Green and Vladimir Nemcok led the Bison with 17 points each. Chandler Rickey added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
