ALVA, Oklahoma — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team lost to Northwestern Oklahoma State on the road Saturday afternoon by a final score of 85-75.
A three-pointer by senior Tyler Davis with just over nine minutes remaining in regulation capped a 10-2 scoring run and forced a 57-all tie, but the Rangers responded with a 10-0 run to go up 69-59 with five minutes remaining. NWOSU held at least an eight-point lead for the final five minutes.
Prior to UAM's second-half run, the Weevils played from behind for the entire first half and by as much as 13 points behind in the final minute of the period. UAM committed 12 turnovers and made only six of 16 foul shots in the first half, while NWOSU shot 46 percent from the field and had only two turnovers.
The Rangers improved upon their efficient shooting performance in the second half, making just over 65 percent of their shots from the field. The Weevils missed only two foul shots on 15 attempts in the second half, but the missed shots in the first half created a deficit too large to overcome.
