@UAMWBB COMPLETES SEASON SWEEP OVER NWOSU

ALVA, Oklahoma — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team wrapped up its weekend trip to western Oklahoma with a 75-70 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.

The win completes the season sweep for UAM over the Rangers. UAM also beat NWOSU 81-62 at home on December 5.

After a 16-all tie following the first 10 minutes of play, the Blossoms (11-8, 8-7 Great American Conference) built a 12-point lead and ended up outscoring the Rangers (1-19, 0-15 GAC) 26-16 in the second period to hold a 42-32 lead at the break.

The roles reversed in the third period with NWOSU outscoring UAM 25-14 to hold a one-point lead of 57-56 heading to the final 10 minutes.

Down by as much as six points early in the fourth period, the Blossoms posted a 16-4 run over the span of seven minutes to hold a six-point lead with just under 30 seconds remaining in regulation. During that run, the Blossoms scored 11 of their 16 points at the free-throw line. UAM finished the game 20-for-23 at the foul line.

Overall, the Blossoms shot 44 percent from the field (25-for-57) and 33 percent on three-pointers (5-for-15). Senior Jordan Goforth turned in her 11th game of the year with at least 20 points, finishing with a game-high 28. Freshman Ayesha Wahid added 19 points.

The Rangers shot 48 percent overall (30-for-63), 31 percent on treys (4-for-13) and 75 percent on foul shots (6-for-8). NWOSU's Kamera Bozeman tied Goforth for the game-high in scoring with 28 points.

The Blossoms are back in action on Thursday, February 11 at home against Harding. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Steelman Field House.
