@WEEVILSBASEBALL WINS HIGH-SCORING AFFAIR AT UNION

JACKSON, Tennessee — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team set a new Great American Conference record for runs in a single game in a 26-18 non-conference road victory over Union on Tuesday.

UAM (13-7) pounded out 20 hits and had all but two spots in the lineup with at least two hits. The Weevils' scoring came with four runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third, five in the fourth, one in the sixth, nine in the eighth and four in the ninth.

Union (13-7) finished with a total of 18 hits, while scoring three in the first, two in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, five in the sixth and three in the seventh.

The victory marks the highest combined score in GAC history. It is also only the third game of the current decade for UAM to have at least 20 runs in a single game. The last came in 21-2 win over Southern Nazarene last season.

Senior right fielder Corey Wood led the Weevils offensively, going 4-for-8 with a pair of two-run homeruns and two triples. He tied a GAC record for at bats in a single game.

Senior center fielder Kevin Fitzpatrick led UAM in run production, going 3-for-5 with six runs batted in. He was a homerun away from the cycle with a single, a three-run triple and a two-run double.

Senior shortstop Evan Comeau joined Wood with five RBI in the win. Comeau finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

Senior second baseman Nick Cerda tied Wood for the game-high in hits, going 4-for-6, all singles. Redshirt freshman Kaleb Reeves, senior Travis Steinke and senior Mitchell Dornblut all had two hits in the win.

The Weevils are back in action this weekend at home against Henderson State. More information about that series will be released later in the week.
