@WEEVILSBASEBALL RUNS WINNING STREAK OUT TO NINE

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team extended its streak to nine consecutive victories with a 6-3 non-conference victory over Central Baptist College on Tuesday at home.

CBC (29-7) jumped out to an early lead with a two-run homerun from Jalin Lawson in the top of the first inning. Including that homerun, the Mustangs had two hits in the first inning, and were held to only two more hits throughout the remainder of the game.

UAM (20-7) cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI bunt from redshirt freshman Kaleb Reeves to score senior Nick Cerda, who doubled to lead off the inning and moved to second on a single from senior Travis Steinke.

The Weevils forced a 2-all tie in the third on an RBI groundout from sophomore Brian Ray.

The Mustangs re-gained the lead in the top of the fourth inning on a sac fly from Ryan Johnson. UAM senior reliever Ben Aldridge (2-1) came in and shut down the CBC offense by throwing four perfect innings, retiring the side in each of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

In support of Aldridge's stellar relief performance, the Weevils scored one in the seventh on a sac fly from Ray and added three more in the eighth, highlighted by a two-run single from senior Evan Comeau. Senior Mitchell Dorblut accounted for the final run with a sac fly. UAM had three hits and a walk in the three-run eighth.

Sophomore Dawson Moser earned his sixth save of the season by keeping the Mustangs scoreless in the ninth.

UAM had nine total hits in the win. Dornblut was the only Weevil with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

The Weevils are on the road this weekend in a three-game GAC series against Arkansas Tech. More information about that series will be released later in the week.
