MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team took down non-conference opponent Philander Smith at home Saturday evening by a final score of 95-62. 


 

• The Weevils jump to 5-1 (1-1 GAC) on the year.
• The Panthers drop to 3-4 overall this season. 
  
   

• Cobe Goosby:  24 points, 5 assists, 5 steals
• Karim Mawuenyega:  16 points, 5 steals
• Jamil Maddred:  11 points, 5 rebounds
• Ted Brisco:  11 points, 2 rebounds
  
   

• Arkansas-Monticello shot out of the gate in this match-up with a 10-0 run, led by Tyrin Jones, and Cobe Goosby.  
• UAM continued to fire on all cylinders in the opening half leading the Panthers 33-11 with 06:36 left in the half. 
• The Weevils posted a 44-23 advantage over Philander Smith with help from two made free throws from Troy Thomas to see the home squad in control of this non-conference match-up. 
• UAM shot 56 percent overall from the field to begin this contest, and forced 16 total turnovers 
  
   

• The Weevils continued to dominate in the second half of play against Philander Smith, leading by over thirty points midway through the game. 
• UAM held a twenty-plus point lead throughout the remainder of this half, as 12 total Weevils saw time on the court in tonight's match-up. 
• Goosby also continued to provide fantastic offense with 15 total points in the half, going 4-for-5 shooting from the floor, and shooting 7-for-8 from the free throw line. 
• Arkansas-Monticello capped off its' scoring in this contest with a three-pointer from Brandon England, and sealed the game off in a win at 95-62 overall. 
  
   

• The Weevils will next take on Southeastern Oklahoma State to begin GAC play this season on Thursday, November 30 in Monticello inside of Steelman Field House with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
